Emerging technologies are the new and rapidly growing breakthrough technologies. The main ones are Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), blockchain, big data, cybersecurity, robotics, virtual reality (VR), immersive technologies (XR) and Quantum computing. There has been a large increase in their impacts recently thanks to breakthroughs in science and technology, and they hold the potential to fundamentally transform the way the economy and society function.
