Since its launch in June 2014, the Northern Powerhouse has grown substantially. This comes down to a number of factors that have seen vast economic growth, thousands of new jobs and increased investment into young start-ups in the area. The continued work to drive productivity and increase opportunities for people across the North have made it an attractive place to be with organisations quickly relocating to be part of the excitement.

While industry is booming up north, strain on the current digital infrastructure could unnecessarily slow down progress. This is why continued investment and development of the Northern Powerhouse’s digital infrastructure is vital to maintain and grow its strength.

In this salon, discussants include: Professor Adam Beaumont, aql Founder & Chairman and Richard Francis, Network Rail’s Senior Account Manager.

They will discuss:

Local partnerships – are rapidly developing future technology to support super fast connectivity of the Northern Powerhouse.

The infrastructure – How high-capacity trackside fibre being deployed alongside the UK’s train network will further support data hungry businesses in the north.

• Super connectivity – How technology such as wavelength fibre services will enable the Northern Powerhouse’s connectivity to the world and increase its global competitiveness.

• The future – What the future digital infrastructure will look like for the Northern Powerhouse.
