Annual Lecture 2018 – From Smart Cities to IoT: Realising Opportunity in a Digital Future

18 June @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm, iCentrum, Innovation Birmingham Campus, Holt St, Birmingham, B7 4BB

The Digital Leaders Annual Lecture is given by a leading technologist, on an important issue of our time.

In it’s 6th Year, our 2018 Annual Lecture is coming to Birmingham, and builds on a year dominated by AI and IoT to ask “how can we realise the opportunity offered to us by digital innovations coming online, and do we all have a role to play in making this a reality?”

This year, the Annual Lecture will be delivered by Scot Gardner, Chief Executive, Cisco UK & Ireland. Having started out as a student at the University of Birmingham, Scot has since had over 25 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry, consultancy and technology start-ups. Scot is now leading work to create smart cities, set up the world’s most connected train travel -HS2 and to bring 5G to rural communities.

Chaired by Jacqueline de Rojas, Chair of Digital Leaders, the lecture will be followed by a wider discussion with the audience and experts including Dave Maclean, Chair of the recently created WMCA Digital Board, and leading GovTech thinker Daniel Korski, Founder and CEO of Public.

This year’s lecture is being hosted by DL West Midlands at iCentrum, Innovation Birmingham Campus. The Annual Lecture will be welcomed to Birmingham by DLWM Chair and Innovation Birmingham CEO, David Hardman.

The Annual lecture will be followed by networking and drinks. We will be showing the England vs. Tunisia World Cup Match from 7 pm.
