Webinar Recording: Design pragmatism – navigating design through complex environments

meeting

Written by Lucy Wakeford, Director, Digital Leaders

Government, like many large organisations, has earned a reputation for red tape, layers of bureaucracy, and aversion to risk. And rightly so. Our governments are responsible for the needs of the full spectrum of our society and taking this responsibility seriously is no small feat.

Design has become a vital part of delivering government, sitting within this complexity and facing a set of challenges not often found in the private sector. Often, this can mean a steep learning curve for designers as much as it can for organisations adopting design methods and new ways of working.

This webinar looks at:

  • How designers and clients can navigate this space to deliver improved outcomes;
  • How we can successfully balance familiar design methods with a need for governance and complex stakeholder management; and
  • How we can use design to create compelling visions for our public services whilst also being pragmatic.

Our lead speakers are: Fionn Tynan-O’Mahony, Head of Experience Design; Anna Rzepczynski Head of Experience Design Delivery; and Giles Colborne Head of UK Consulting Product and Proposition from Sopra Steria as well as Amanda Payne Experience Strategy Director, cxpartners and Patrick Green, CEO of the Ben Kinsella Trust, who will talk specifically about the complex challenges of addressing knife crime and how they have used design tools to support their approach.

You’ll come away from this webinar knowing more about:

  • Creating space for design to thrive in large organisations
  • Navigating complex social spaces through design; and
  • Learning ways to adapt our methods without compromising on outcomes.
