Flood & Coast Conference – call for speakers

Written by Matthew Hull, Digital Leaders

Flood & Coast 2019 is inviting speaker and content proposals for their annual conference.

It is an opportunity for Digital Leaders Members to share their ideas and help shape the event.

Flood & Coast is not only an opportunity to connect, share and learn, but to also challenge ourselves about what we can do differently today to be ready for tomorrow.

The conference advances the debate about flood and coast erosion risk, resilience and response between government bodies and local authorities with business, major infrastructure and asset managers, as well as affected communities. Embracing the concept of “a changing climate” the event draws on expertise and experience from different geographies – not only within the UK.

The event brings together the specialists in the supply chain that deliver technology and solutions to control the increasing risk of flood and rising sea levels around our coasts, in order to spread best practice, discuss new ways of working and to deliver excellence in FCERM.

In 2019, conference themes are aligned with the developing National Strategy for Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management.

The deadline for receiving proposals is Friday 31st December 2018.

Selection for the programme will be made by the Advisory Committee in early 2019 and applicants will be contacted if their proposal is accepted.

Following feedback from Flood & Coast 2018, the organisers are looking to create more opportunities for discussion and interaction amongst delegates.

They are therefore seeking a mix of technical/academic papers, ‘bite-size’ industry updates, longer ‘deep-dive’ presentations, interactive workshops and panel sessions on topics of industry interest.

Conference Themes:
  • Climate Resilience
  • Resilient Economy
  • Planning and Place Making
  • Valuing the Natural Environment
  • Partnership Working
  • Working with Communities
  • Incident Preparation, Response and Recovery
  • Future Skills
  • Data, Innovation and Digital Transformation
  • Project Delivery
