DLTV: Smart cities and securing innovative GovTech solutions

14 May @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm, This is an online event

As the public sector develops its agenda focusing on the use of technological solutions to innovate and improve the urban environment, we are holding a DLTV show taking a closer look at current smart cities projects and examples of success.

Public procurement is a key driver for innovation and adoption of new technologies.

From urban infrastructure, through tourism to healthcare services, there are endless opportunities for collaboration between the public sector and innovative enterprises and SMEs. But how does this happen in practice and can cross-city programmes enable greater and faster ways for innovative tech to find its way into the public sector?

Join us for the discussion with experts: Raj Mack, Head of Digital Birmingham, Jennifer Hartley, Director of Invest Newcastle, Samantha Tilley, Programme Manager – IT Reform & Transformation Team, ICT Partnership, Customer Transformation, Wigan Council and Simon Brereton, Head of Economic Growth at York City Council, as we explore the opportunities and challenges of:

  • the wider smart cities agenda
  • big data planning and its role in developing cities
  • innovative procurement in the public sector
  • examples of successful projects and collaborations

Tune in for this live programme in the lead up to Digital Leaders Week in June, during which two major events will dive deeper into these themes –  ND19: Smart Places, the National Digital Conference taking place on 20 June and Govnet’s Public Sector Solutions Expo 25-26 June.
