High demand for the low supply of skilled labour makes using consultants an attractive alternative to permanent staff as a businesses’ growth strategy, but engaging and getting the best out of consultants can be challenging.
According to the CIPD labour market outlook: Summer 2022, employment confidence remains high in the UK with organisations reporting that they expect to increase staff levels, with numbers far exceeding pre-pandemic levels.
However, organisations are also reporting that vacancies are persistently hard to fill and upskilling of existing staff is a challenge. The response appears to be an increased use of consultants as an answer to the challenges in the labour market. The consultancy industry expects to double over the next 10 years
