Perth and Kinross Council and Miconex, working together have pioneered the use of payment-linked technology in a smart cities context to reward and incentivise consumer behaviour and to create a framework to measure the impact of different interventions on consumer behaviour.
By tracking payments across multiple businesses sectors and transport operators, we can create new data that for the first time allows us to start to understand how residents interact with a ‘place’.
Converting earned rewards to a local currency stimulates additional economic activity and provides the opportunity to influence and reward positive behavioural changes such as smarter travel choices, healthier lifestyle options and reduction in single use plastics.
