Salon: The philosophical questions posed by AI in society

21 June @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Anglia Ruskin University

This salon will look at the philosophical implications and applications of artificial intelligence. The lead discussants will ensure a stimulating debate including recent academic research, as we bring together those developing services using AI, and a lecturer in philosophy.

Michael Wilby, Senior Lecturer and Course Leader in Philosophy at Anglia Ruskin University, will focus on the ethics of artificial intelligence and pose questions to the group focusing on what we can do, versus what we should do.
Tim Lancaster, AWS Practice Director, Arcus Global, will discuss the work they have done on AI, and share this thoughts on the impacts this area of technology will have. He will also discuss his personal concerns about the effect on jobs and a changed model for what society expects from people, placing less emphasis on what your job is, and more on how you contribute to the community.
Registration is essential as places are limited. This event will be followed by networking drinks.
