4th Public Sector Innovation Conference
8 March 2022
RSA House, London
Introduction
The pandemic has impacted public sector services massively. Positively, it has accelerated digital transformation across central and local government as well as the NHS and blue light services. This rapid move towards digital first has seen rapid growth in the use of Cloud and APIs as well as highlighting areas where improvements are needed.
At 2022’s 4th Public Sector Innovation Conference at the RSA, we looked at the fundamentals of the next stage of rapid digital adoption in the public sector covering: interoperability; platforms; data; and emerging technologies as four areas that can transform public services.

9.30 Session One: Platforms and Interoperability
Government Departments are known to be siloed when it comes to their technology choices and the same is true of data. A solution is needed and lies in better interoperability through platforms. In this first session we will hear about the ambition for Interoperability and platforms to deliver joined up services to digital citizens. We will hear from the DLUHC, MoD, DWP and industry including some practical successes and our panel will compare notes on what is happening across government.

11.30 Session Two: Data
The application of data in government has almost limitless potential for providing more efficient, effective and trustworthy and digital public services. It includes demographic, location, health, education, economic, business and other information, but the sources of data are disparate including traffic and CCTV cameras, sensors, satellites, body cameras, calls, emails, direct messages, and social media, In this session we think about how we are delivering on this promise, developing the right skills in Government and tackling privacy and ethical issues? We will hear speakers from across government including No.10, Cabinet Office, ONS and industry.
13.00 Lunch and Networking
14.00 Session Three: Emerging Technologies
The post-pandemic pace of change is rapid and to keep pace with shifting citizen expectations government departments must look to incorporate the latest emerging technologies into public services. In this session we try to imagine what next in building digitally-enabled public services. We will hear about some of the emerging technologies being used in Government from Blockchain for Government, Automation and Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality and Intelligent System Interfaces. We have speakers from the Houses of Parliament, Home Office, Geospatial Commission, the Scottish Government and Industry.
