NCFE has been at the forefront of technical education for over 170 years, committed to changing lives through learning. We have supported millions of UK learners into employment and to raise the professional standard of others, earning us a reputation for excellence and leadership. As a leader in technical education, we are delighted to announce that we have been awarded contracts by the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (the Institute), to be the delivery partner for six new T Levels in Digital Business Services, Digital Support Services, Health, Healthcare Science, Science, and Education and Childcare.
T Levels are new technical study programmes, designed with employers to give young people the skills that industry needs. As the technical equivalent to A Levels, the T Level provides students with a mixture of classroom learning and ‘on-the-job’ experience during an industry placement of at least 315 hours (approximately 45 days). They will provide the knowledge and experience needed to open the door into skilled employment, further study, or a higher apprenticeship.
T Levels will be the biggest change to technical education in a generation supporting students into a career by drawing on employers, industry practitioners and education to guide the T Level design – ensuring that the qualification is fit for the sector, because the sector built it.
NCFE is currently in the process of developing T Level qualifications for the Digital Business Services and Digital Support Services T Levels. To ensure that the qualifications are developed to fulfil the needs of the Digital sector we are looking to engage with practitioners across the following occupational specialisms to ensure content and assessment design is current and relevant:
Contributing to these developments provides an opportunity for continuing professional development, as well as actively contributing to the future talent pipeline; many of you could be the future employers of students that go through the T Level – so this is an excellent opportunity to be involved in steering the programme and shaping the sector and those that work within in it for the future.
We are also inviting employers, subject matter experts, FE, HEI, private training providers and sector representatives to consider joining our Technical Education Advisory Board to add scrutiny, governance and oversight into the process.
If you are working in the Digital sector and are interested in being part of the T Level development, please me at [email protected] or via 0758 499 2512 for further information and/or to register your interest.
